InMails are the LinkedIn version of an email. Each potential candidate or “member” of LinkedIn has a profile. You can connect and email that person to build your professional network. Some of the best tips for sending InMail’s include:
- About half of LinkedIn’s traffic is on mobile devices, so keep your InMail very short.
- Personalize the message with the person’s name or any other relevant details that will come off as less of a form of communication. No one wants another form letter.
- If you reach out to potential candidates that share a group with you, you are more likely to get a response. Having a shared connection opens doors.
- Don’t ask for a resume out of the gate. Spend time being authentic and getting to know the person first.
- Don’t pitch a job that’s a lower level than where the person is. Pay attention to the person’s profile.
